Although not signed it closely resembles the work by the French alpine painter Charles Alexandre Bernier (1860–1924). Bertier frequently painted the picturesque Champsaur valley and the surrounding Petit Chaillol mountain peaks in the French Alps.

This antique oil painting is a classic landscape, depicting a tranquil valley and river winding toward mountains. The painterly brushwork captures natural light, characteristic of traditional plein air art.
